Rare Borjalou Kazak rug, 196cm x 135cm (6'5" x 4'4", circa 1875. An exceptional example. Typical use of repeating hooked lozenges, but filled with very unusual scattered kites! Lovely palette with a buttery yellow, two shades of pale blue and terracotta red. a very dramatic and beautiful rug! Light brown wefts suggest an early date. Good condition and pile. Some restorations, professionally undertaken, including some repiling to the browns and partly reselvaged. This rug presents beautifully.
