shibori yukata, Japan, Showa (circa 1950), cm 151x130. a lightweight male summer kimono, made of hand spun, hand woven cotton, nicely thick and toothy in the hand. It has been decorated, using the ‘shibori’ or shape resist method, and most likely it comes from Narumi, one of most recognized area where the shibori technique is applied. Very good condition and, given dimensions, an item that can also fit ‘westerner’-sized users…. a cosy and visually appealing thing.
