PAIR OF YOMUT CHUVALS Very nice PAIR of 19th century Yomut Chuvals. Initial analysis placed the age around 1900 due to the fine condition of the pieces and the inclusion of cotton in the flat weave back. Subsequent analysis puts a more likely dating to the 3rd or 4th quarter of the 19th Century. Analysis shows a possible Atabai atrribution, due primarily to the inclusion of the Erre-gul (secondary gul). It also yields a mid to late 19th century dating due to the 3x3 field design, three arrow points/triangular shapes at the top of the bag (closure points?), and the liberal use of the fine "bright" blue found almost exclusively in 19th century pieces. The condition of the pieces is Excellent considering the age. Almost full pile and a couple of minor holes/tears, e.g. at the bottom of the bag and on one corner, but overall these bags are in fine condition with superb wool and fine colours.
