Here i have i believe to be a rare, old, hand spun Tatibin ceremonial textile, with gold wrapped thread throughout, a piece known as ‘ships cloth’ from Lampung south Sumatra Indonesia. Measurement: 40cm x 84cm (15.5in x 33in) the cotton border is 5cm (2in) where it was framed in the past, carefully hand sewn around the edge. It now looks quite fragile and might be better under glass to display. The geometric design of vibrant colours, yellow, red and indigo natural dyes. The gold thread is still in many parts of the weave, it’s a lovely piece. Provenance: family inheritance, collected over 25 years ago by my family who lived and worked in Jakarta and Bali, carefully wrapped, packed and stored away for years, in their London non-smoking home. i have other pieces of beautiful, interesting textiles, individual and unique, i hope to find homes for them to be enjoyed once more. a Revised Price bargain!
