An extremely rare field design on a rug in the 'Baluch'-style. These rugs have been called Mushwani, Kurd-Baluch, Bahluri and Aimaq. The knots are symmetrical with significant warp displacement. The field composition consists of three vertical rows of quartered floral motifs. However, these floral motifs are not actually a part of a 'tree' as in the 'tree of life'. Rather, they free-float on a red, abrushed ground. Between the rows is an extremely rare construct that is slightly easier to see than to describe, verbally. When one's vision is appropriately focused, one discovers a diamond form and two vertical lines (see details). The diamond forms are, in turn, displayed on a serrated octagonal-like motif. There are secondary motifs at the top and bottom of this octagonal-like form. The rug has been professionally washed, pile is close-cut and there is surface wear as shown but no holes or foundation damage. An unassuming yet on close study a very rare tribal weaving.
