#7630 Zili Sultan Rug This late 19th century Zili Sultan measures 4’2” x 7’1” (128 x 216 cm). As in all Zili Sultans, this rug is not only incredibly finely woven but it’s also one of the most beautiful rugs of its type that i have ever seen. Although the rug doesn’t actually have any green it, the rug looks green. The lower 2/3 of the rug is in a very nice yellow. The top 1/3 of the rug is a lovely pale blue. i have just had a thought. The pale yellow and the pale blue have united in this rug to give the appearance of pale green. And i am not kidding. i have never seen an optical illusion like this in any textile. The motifs are staggered 3-2, 3-2, 3-2 and it is repeated of beautifully drawn urns in red and blue stripes with pale yellow containing three red roses and topped with a floral motif which i can’t begin to describe. Each unit of the motif is surrounded and separated by a nicely drawn floral manifestation. The rug is encompassed by three sets of reciprocal borders with dark blue, yellow and red grounds and a major border of red botehs and open blossoms in the same red as in the field ie yellow to blue. The rug has even pile. It has complete ends and sides. It is clean and ready to go. The buyer pays the shipping which includes insurance. http://www.antiqueorientalrugs.com/CLOSEUP%20PAGES/7630%20Zili%20Sultan%...
