This museum grade example was made by the Tekke / Teke tribe and dates mid to third quarter of 19th century. These gold and silver heart shaped pendants (worn on a necklace ) are known as 'Asyk' and unlike many younger examples, this piece is superior in every respect. The clarity of the motifs, the quality of the work and the precision of the shape reflects a master silver smith's touch.
