Central Anatolian pile fragment, Konya Cappadocia region, circa 1800, 55" x 47", 139 x 119 cm (+/-). This fragment is in a runner format and consists of the upper one-third of the original. Its condition suggests very hard use by its owners. The deeply saturated colors are from all natural dye sources and remain strong and clear. The surviving pile is thick and extremely soft. The field composition is unusual, seemingly quite rare, and may represent a folk art version of the more classic rendering. More pictures available on request.
