a very fine example of Antique Tekke Turkoman / Turkmen gold painted silver pendant with carnelian insets. Dating to the 19th century these intricately shaped bridal jewellery are known as Gulbaqa (literally translating frog motif). The frog was a symbol of rain and fertility so this frog shaped pendent was put on the bride in the hope to make her fertile. a very archaic jewellery made of good grade silver and made by a skilled silver smith.
