Antique South West Persian Luri tribal rug in outstanding condition with classic design. www.knightsantiques.co.uk
Size: 7ft 5inx 5ft 3in (226 x 160cm).
Circa 1900.
This rug is an excellent example of Luri tribal weaving, with a field of four latch hook medallions. The medallions are filled with rosettes and other tribal devices, the indigo blue field contains many small animals, flowers and tribal designs. The border designs are typical of Luri work.
The rug has very slight wear with good full pile, the wool quality and colours are outstanding. The rug is also of a very useful size being slightly larger than normal.
The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display. The rug is suitable for normal domestic use.
