Khamseh Shahsavan khorjin face; plump and playful motifs fill the octagons of this piece (compared to the somewhat stiff motifs in plates 9 to 11 of Sumak Bags and many others); the white is cotton, which, as Wertime comments in relation to the piece shown in plate 9 of his book, adds a brightness to the design; the presence of cotton here does not necessarily indicate a later date, as plate 9 of Sumak Bags shows, being attributed to the 2nd quarter of the 19th century; all other aspects of the piece indicate that it has good age, perhaps late 3rd quarter of the 19th century; the bottom corners have been restored, there is also a repair to the gold motif in the top left corner of the centre panel; these can be easily identified from the image of the back; 49 x 52 cms.
