To conceal a name? Interesting detail: it has little loops to hang it on a wall - they seem original - This kilim probably was made to hang like you see on the photo. In the book a little dispute about where it is made - Kerimov says Karabach Zollinger says Georgia. seems that Kerimov was right looking at this kilim. Armenian caracters. There is a well kept border between those two countries. Other autors place this kind in the Derbent area. There were in 1912 a lot of Armenian people there. They were deported to the West part fo the Caucasus by the Russians after 1920. In favour of the Turkic speaking Azeri.
