It almost certainly comes from a village in Goklan area in Iran where these Yomud people, previously Nomads, lived for a long time. Some other tribes from the same group lived previously in the ex Russian Turkmenistan. The weaver of this rare jewel was a very skilled one since he well knew how to handle the offset knotting to get different diagonals, skill that gives the design movement. The previous owner, a rather well known collector/dealer said it's wonderfully executed and with a great feeling of space. He also said it's heraldic. Thank you bf.
