Back
a beshir germech? with the Beshir version of the mina kani design drawn in large scale. 54“ x 16” (137 cm x 41 cm). This might seem wide for a germech, but consider that Beshir engsis are also typically larger than those of other groups. The top hem is unsewn in a few places. At bottom center the pile is fraying just to the edge of the border, otherwise edges good, with just minor wear. Pile is shorter in center, better towards the top and sides. Good vegetal colors. Reasons to consider this a germech rather than a torba: The flatweave strip across the top edge has wider exposure on the front, and has strips of twining and other flatweave design across it---this is typical of germechs, whereas torbas usually have very little exposure of flatweave kilim between the pile and the top fold. Weaving began at the top, so the pile points upward---this is standard with germechs, whereas torbas are normally the opposite.
