Best of Type collector quality small silk prayer mihrab panel. Made in Shakhrizabs/Samarkand circa 1850. Colorful embroidered drawing on the deep aubergine silk ground is very refined. Original edging and printed cotton backing. Small breaks and minor losses in purple silk as shown. No repairs. 14x16 inches; 36 x 41 cm. Exhibited at the Corcoran Gallery Collectors' Exhibition in Washington, dc during the 14th icoc at The Textile Museum.
