• chyrpy •
This coat-veil (chyrpy) was often in cotton, embroidered with rows of stylised flowers, and among the Tekke its colour indicated the age of the weavers. Black is for a young woman, yellow for a mature one and white for an old one.
These embroideries, the designs of which where mostly floral, were made by women.
Turkmenistan, Tekke
Married women's black silk mantle(chyrpy) pulled over the head when worn. Floral and shrub embroideries in cotton and silk.
