Antique Indian Wedding Shawl. This is an antique embroidered wedding shawl or “odhni” from the Thar Desert region near Jaisalmer in Rajasthan. Approximately 83 x 51 inches. The background cloth is 2 strips of brick red handloomed red cotton cloth that have been sewn together lengthwise. The shawl is embroidered mostly in cross stitch and satin stitch in white, yellow, blue and green wool thread. Lots of large and small mirrorwork. The field has nice abstract floral designs and attractive border designs. The shawl is in excellent condition.
