Back
a beautifully carved antique showman's stick from the late 18th to early 19th century, found in Ireland but could also have been made in England. Carved from hard Hickory wood in an assured and expressive style reminiscent of early fairground horses. The carving is in good condition with a crack along the grain on one side of the handle. The stick has a repaired break visible in the detailed photos in the link below and has its original metal capped tip. The length is 86 cm and the length of handle is 14cm.
