Christie's

Christie’s offers a range of hand-woven rugs and carpets dating from the 15th century to the mid-20th century. Over the past decade we have led the market in this category, establishing world auction records for European, Indian, Persian, Turkish and Chinese carpets.

Highlights from recent years include rare and exceptional carpets from private collections, such as the Alice de Rothschild Kirman ‘Vase’ Carpets; the late Peter Lehmann-Bärenklau collection; the Vanderbilt Mughal Star-Lattice carpet; the Comtesse de Béhague Kirman ‘Vase’ carpet; and the Doris Duke silk Isfahan rug.

A dedicated sale is held annually in London in October, while further pieces can be found in single-owner collections and mixed category sales such as Art of the Islamic & Indian Worlds, Interiors and The Opulent Eye. Based in London and New York, our specialists are unrivalled in their passion and experience in this field. We are always available for free and confidential valuations and often travel to meet clients. Please do not hesitate to get in touch about buying or selling rugs and carpets with Christie’s.
