Antique sieve / sifter, hand made, bentwood and pierced hide, Mapuche Indians, Chile, ca. 1900, out of about 850 sieves in the Smithsonian Museum collection, only 2 are made in this same way, they were both collected in the 1920's in the Araucania Region of Chile, Mapuche Indians villages, see catalog numbers 17/5933 and especially 13/5625, it is heavily used, with encrusting, staining, soiling, but strong, the approximate size is 17 inches across and 5.5 inches tall, #9014, shipping is extra
