Antique needlepoint purse, 1764 stitches per inch, hand woven silk, fine petit point, ca. 1920's, an average of 42 stitches per linear inch, 42x42 = about an amazing 1764 stitches per square inch, Neoclassical Revival Design with 2 women dancing on a pedestal under swags, one with wings and a halo and the other playing a Pan flute, they are surrounded by giant clusters of grapes and acanthus leaves, bright colors on a beige ground and a black border, a brass frame with black lacquer and faceted glass or marcasite beads, silk lining with Made in Austria tag, general good antique condition, some loss of silk at stress points, mainly at the interior by the clasp and at the bottom corners, the brass frame is slightly bowed, missing glass beads on the frame, the approximate size is 7x7 inches, #1301
