This circa 1880 Caucasian Prepedil Kuba Oriental rug #7994 measures 4’0” x 6’3”. The rust red field has a design of stylized birds in ivory, blue, green, black and tobacco. There are six borders which is odd. The inner border is meandering vine on an ivory ground. The next border has eight pointed stars in ivory, tobacco, red, blue and rust on a light tobacco colored ground. The 3rd border is reciprocal with the 5th border. The major border is multicolored octagons in blue, rust, and black on an ivory ground. The outer border is a Prepedil border in rust and tobacco. The outer dog tooth border at the left and right side is surrounded by black which has corroded and is easily seen in the photos. Not a big deal. Otherwise the ends and sides are complete. This rug is full pile. It is clean and ready to go.
