Unusual large antique Caucasian rug. a green field karachopf Kazak with some interesting features starting with a yellow central medallion. Even more unusual is the ivory cotton wefting used in most of the weaving. Strangely the rug begins and ends with a short section of wool wefting. The rug design loosely follows the type although the inclusion of “prayer arches” and corner elements are lifted from long type “b” karachopfs. The border is attractive and also unusual for the type. Condition is poor with heavy wear and damages as shown. Reasonably clean and structurally sound. All natural colors. Not for restoration but for study. Age? 57” x 78” price-ask
