Embroidered silk on a red wool background, in vibrant natural colors of cobalt blue, emerald green, golden yellow, a lilac mauve (probably made from Lac - from India), white and black. While the figures look like hearts, the Lakai women pattern their designs after nature and often depict scorpions and spiders (which we may have here). In any case it is a great swirling circle of design done in very fine stitched needle work. a beautiful piece of Contrail Asian tribal art work
