Kirghiz fragment, older than any Kirghiz piece I've seen with an ancient aesthetic. This piece was sourced in Tibet. It appears to be quite old. Realistically it is probably no older than early 19th or possibly 18th but it has a positively atavistic look and feel. Warp is hand spun cotton, and the piece is single wefted with very rustic un-dyed seemingly un-plied? wool. The synak border is preserved on one-side giving it the appearance of an ensi. This is most likely coincidental but still fascinating. Soft blanket-like handle. This is sort of a love it or hate type piece.
