An excellent and very unusual silk embroidered antique hat made by the Turkoman / Turkmen Ersari tribe. This rare piece dates to the late 19th century and is fully silk embroidered. The classic design is made of quadruple triangular motif (representing the talismanic triangle musks motifs) is rendered with a rich palette of colours for which the Ersari silk embroideries are famous. What makes this example unusual from other Ersari silk hats is the cone shape, the incorporation of beads and the beaded tassels on the top. All these are quite rare.
