Ocarina in the shape of a serpent, Colima, West Mexico, Terracotta, Ca. 100 b.c. to 250 a.d., 6.5" (16.5 cm) long by 4.5" (11.4 cm) wide. Ocarina in a curled serpent form with head over tail, blow hole at the back and four holes for different notes on the body. It produces rich, resonant sound when played. There is a hole at he bottom for suspension, see next to last photo. No damage or restoration. Exhibited at the Marjorie Barrick Museum, unlv, 2000s. Ex. private Nevada collection, ex. David Harner collection, Arkansas, 1950s-1060s.
