Antique Agate and Silver 'Signet' Ring from Afghanistan; 19th c.
Very masculine and rather regal 'signet' ring from Afghanistan - perhaps belonging to a tribal chieftain; silver with a nodule of gold or brass protruding at its bottom suggesting some significance; mid-19th c.; fine engraving of a gazelle on the agate surface. Acquired in Peshawar - when it was relatively safe - fifty years ago after crossing the Khyber Pass.
