Pre-Columbian bag with yellow and gold figures. a.d. 400 - a.d. 600. This early Nasca Culture tapestry bag is from the South Coast region of Peru. It displays an abstract, multi-limbed anthropomorphic figure in a different color on each face. Bags with this style of drawing are rare and desirable. Its small size is not usual ( 5 x 5.25 inches). The bag is complete and in very good condition. It has been lined with a fine backing cloth that incorporates a conservation grade foam core support that allows the bag to be handled and easily displayed. It is not dry or brittle like many pieces from this era. Collectable and attractive with good well preserved color and an ancient/modernist aesthetic.
