Early Kazak rug with a very unusual field design. The weaver created a novel eye dazzling “candy cane” lattice field and used traditional bold Kazak borders. All very good natural colors featuring a good tomato red, pretty blue/green and a strong clear yellow. Overall substantial wear and heavy brown oxidation. Edges rough with remnant original selvages. As found, very dirty and in need of a careful wash. Good age, ca. 1850-70. 4’ x 8’2”
