This mid 19th century Akstava antique Oriental Rug #7418 measures 3’1” x 7’2” (94 x 219 cm). It has a natural brown field containing four medallions; two in rust, one in ivory and one in sky-blue. Each medallion is filled with flower heads and a diamond motif. This is very asymmetric and all four are different. The field motif is composed of various quadrupeds in various sizes, colors and designs. There are two large Akstava birds with no legs signifying age and eight other examples of smaller varieties of bird. One interesting, if not unique motif in the field are four groups of ivory crosses in rows of three or four. I’ve never seen this before in an Akstava or any other Caucasian rug. The border is the typical Akstava border in ivory which is very beautifully drawn. As can be seen in the image this is a very exciting rendition of this type of rug in an almost miniature size but i regret to say not a miniature price. The rug is essentially full pile. It has complete ends and sides. It is clean and ready to go. The buyer pays the shipping with insurance of $75. https://antiqueorientalrugs.com/product/7418-akstava-antique-caucasian-rug/
