Antique Kurdish tribal rug with fantastic colors and shiny wool. Circa 1870. Size: ca. 260x140cm / 8'5'' x 4'6''ft The design of this village weaving displays interlocking stepped diamonds that completely cover the field. The design and repertoire of this rug are simple at first sight, but if you look at the rug more carefully you will recognize that the color of each serrated diamond seems to resolve itself into a series of larger interlocking diamond medallions. The weaver must have relied on the brilliant colors because with mediocre colors this rug wouldn´t have the same beautiful visual eye catcher effect.
