Among the Baluch of the Sistan region of se Persia, one finds a number of eccentric weavings, including animal trappings of various types, as well as flat weaves, etc that are not really an integral component featured in the collecting habits of the Baluch audience.

Trappings such as this must have been made for special occasions, possibly marriage, seldom used and preserved for posterity.

The design consists of a 'dragon' form, complete with eyes, contained within a hexagonal cartouche, brilliantly colored with all natural dyes and woven with a sure hand by a weaver who knew exactly what she was doing.

The condition is excellent.
