This is a boro sodenashi, or sleeveless jacket. This garment is part of a Japanese farmer's work wear and is well worn, carefully patched, and mended. It's ground is comprised of beautiful indigo dyed cottons with many patches of contrasting check and indigo. There are many elaborate repairs with rustic country sashiko stitching.
