C.Anatolian kilim, 8'7' x 9" 2.74m x 2.44m, 3rd qtr.19th c. or earlier. Recently purchased from a family who has owned it for over 95 years, this Central Anatolian kilim has excellent colors including a rich deep aubergine. Although kilims are said not to have been valued highly in the early 20th c., it is evident that someone saw the beauty in this one and chose to create a room size rug. As a consequence, the piece has been shortened, and a 4th border added. Still quite useable, it is priced at a significant discount relative to other more fragmentary examples.
