with Alberto Levi followed by a panel discussion with Alberto Levi, former famsf textile arts curator Cathryn Cootner,and renowned Bay Area collector Jim Dixon, moderated by Ben Evans, editor of hali Publications Ltd.

Alberto Levi has been studying tribal rugs and textiles for many years and is the owner of Alberto Levi Gallery in Milan, which is dedicated to the appreciation of antique textiles and carpets as works of art. He serves as a regular contributor to leading textile arts publications Ghereh and hali. An active member of the International Conference on Oriental Carpets, Levi served as the chairman of Ninth International Conference on Oriental Carpets in Milan and Florence in 1999.

This lecture is presented in collaboration with The Art of the Anatolian Kilim: Highlights from the McCoy Jones Collection, on view September 10, 2011, through June 10, 2012, in the Wais and Knowles Galleries of Textile Arts at the de Young.
