This charming and naive purple silk suzani has wonderful character and is rare in its display of ascending detached blossoms in yellow and white with stems and leaves in blue-green and green -- all outlined in red. There are areas where the maker did not fill the spaces, leaving just a spare outline to articulate the essence of the motif. These areas have not oxidized, nor have they been removed, as there are no needle-holes present. The graphics are simple, yet striking. The procession of blossoms around the border give a sense of dynamic movement. The original ikat edging is intact, but the back has been removed.
