Woven from hand spun cotton and using local indigo dye this is a good example of style of cloth used for marriages in the major weaving centre of Ilorin in the early decades of the C20th. a similar cloth is illustrated in Lamb & Holmes "Nigerian Weaving" (1980) page 38.)
