Dual-Directional Shirvan rug with a fine rendition and placement of ornament and kufic border. Could possibly read as a double sided prayer rug. a classic mihrab pattern is articulated in the top portion of the field while a more rounded version is pronounced in the bottom portion. Rare is a term that is perhaps over-used in the collectible rug trade but i hope that in this case you will see that it is warranted for this both unusual and beautiful piece.
