Back
I'm happy once again to be able to offer one of my most beautiful and striking antique Uzbek suzanis from my collection. It dates back to the first half of the 19th c. and the exact location in Uzbekistan where it was embroidered is uncertain.
The huge, different, flower arrangement, occupying such a large part of the home-spun cotton ground, is very rare indeed. It has a somewhat Mughal feel to it, although much more adapted to the early Uzbek style. In the 25 years I've been specializing in suzanis, this is one of the few times I've encountered such a bold and rare design. The beautiful colour palette is quite varied, with naturally-dyed reds, greens, yellows, blues and rose. It has a somewhat squarish size - 80 x 69 inches (203 x 175 cm).
The condition is very good, with 1-2 tiny repairs to the cotton ground and some to the silk stitch.
Thank you for your attention.
