The Karakalpak kiymeshek is a woman's head veil, which covers the hair and uppermost part of the body but leaves the face exposed. It was always worn with a matching turban. It is an integral garment, immediately recognisable by its embroidered triangular front and its diamond-shaped shawl at the back.
