The Kurdish woman who wove this rug in the last quarter of the 19th c. either lived next door to a rug store or traveled through the Caucases and developed rug envy. Her achievement shows us a prayer Fachralo, red panels of a Shirvan, stunted Eagle Kazak medallions, a Kurdish outer border and a Turkish inner border along with an animal herd and the clumped dots common in Northwest Persian Kurdish weaving. Wow! She hit all the happy notes. It measures 10'3" x 4'8" at the bottom end and 4'1" at the top. The bold design minimizes the visual effect of the difference in size end to end and the soft weave would probably yield easily to blocking.
