Persian Tree of life pencilled cotton hanging with birds
Circa 1850/1900
Large pencilled and printed hanging probably in Isfahan (Persia). Fully lined with a dyed indigo cotton voile , its "tree of life" design with birds is entirely painted by hand, and only the borders are block printed. This "Perse" is composed in two length pieces of cotton sewn before dyeing. Rich exotic repertoire with a mihrab and calligraphic cartridges.Good condition.
Measures 113" x 59".
Positive comment:
Spectacular. We appreciate the pastel tones that contrast with the indigo blue and turkish red . Very "baroque" design. Its mint condition.
Negative comment:
Nothing to say.
