Rare Shahsavan Long Rug, 3.40m x 1.03m (11'2" x 3'5"), circa 1880. Dated with inscription. This is a very nice example. Woven on wool foundation with great velvety wool pile and wonderful dyes. Exceptional greens and yellows, as well as a burnt orange. Medallions are individual and beautifully drawn. Many scattered motifs of tribal interest. Very nicely drawn ivory border. Condition is generally good. Nice pile across most of the rug. Original selvages intact. Ends original. One or two small old repairs. This is an honest rug in good condition. sold thanks
