semi-antique european rug. The exact origin is a mystery (Any help and comments much appreciated) but i think it may well be english and dates from the early 20th century. The designs are relaxed and well drawn and mostly floral, apart from the two elephants and their riders. It may be based on earlier Indian empire rugs. Reference 1814. 198 x 152cms. €750.
