a stunning Antique Uzbek silk embroidered Suzani from Tashkent region of Uzbekistan. It dates between 1900 - around 1920s. Usually i don't bother with these types, but i couldn't resist this exceptional example. The masterfully use of colour makes the detailed geometric design jump out. Just look at the way the yellow contrasts with the purple, red, blue and touches of green and pink - brilliant. The embroidery is done using fine silks in a combination of chain-stitch, blanket stitch and flat stitch. This top example is in a very good condition and is reasonably priced. size: 240cm x 220cm (7'11" x 7'3")
