kamseh's tribal rug: The rug is dated approximately 1930. The dyes appear to be entirely natural. This tribal rug is Kamsehs and not Qashqa’is as originally thought. The weft is wool and is not colored in the tradition of the Qashqa’is. The animals are Peacocks with deer or goats above. The rug measures 7 feet - 3 inches by 5 feet 2 inches.
The original fringe is intact and overall this piece is in tremendous condition, except it could benefit from being blocked. The rug has a very soft fine wool, great color, even height weave, and is all original. It folds quite easily. .
There are two very small areas - one is less than 1 inch, and the other smaller - where the warp/weft are slightly exposed. These two small spots are very hard to see. The assumption is that the area of wear is from the rug not lying perfectly flat.
