Turquoise Pashmina sash embroidered with silver thread - Kashmir India early 19c-
Circa 1800/1840
India for western
Amazing turquoise pashmina sash or scarf embroidered with silver thread in India (Kashmir) for Western Europe. Embroidered braids of silver thread all bound and sewn together which are very similar to the Zari shawls made in a later period in Punjab. Mughal-inspired floral repertoire and elongated boteh evoke the early Sick period. Attested provenance by the presence of a label indicating a wedding present from December 7th, 1847 in England. Very good condition.
Measures: 256 cm x 56 cm.
Positive Comments:
Turquoise pashmina is very fine, soft and high quality!. The embroidery silver thread work is unsurpassed. Rare piece in good condition with provenance!.
Negative Comments:
Seven to eight tiny holes as large a pinhead, (only visible to the light), otherwise perfect condition and color.
