Unusual Anatolian Prayer Rug Fragment- Yuruk or Not Yuruk! That is the question. Even though this piece shares similar design elements common to Yuruk type prayer rugs such as the main border and the Amulets found in the field of the mihrab, the rest of the designs such as the columns, zigzag bands running down the sides of the mihrab, trees in the spandrels and the minor guard borders i have not been able to find in any other Yuruk pieces from my library. Also the weave does not look similar. The real white bleeps running horizontally across the rug found near the top of the spandrels are cotton. So I'm not sure what it is. The two-separate parts of the fragment are being held together by a cloth, which the rug is sewn onto.
