#7398 Leshgi Runner
This circa 1870 Leshgi runner measures 3’4” x 8’5” (103 x 259cm). This is a very finely woven Leshgi. These are very rare, if not impossible to find. The motif is 5 ½ Leshgi stars on a squared up blue, red, blue, red ground. The stars are ivory and very saturated green. There is quite a bit of asymmetry in the design which is composed of flower heads, stars, several quadrupeds of which one resembles a dog. The major border is a very lovely well drawn Kufic design in ivory on a tomato red ground. The reciprocal borders have flower heads and blue birds on a black ground. This border motif is generally found in Kuba. This Leshgi rug is dated much earlier than most you will find and is in excellent condition. The ends and sides are complete. It has very good pile. It is clean and ready to go. The buyer pays the shipping with insurance.
